During the early days of Moonpie Films when technology was at an all time low the crew had to make do with whatever was at hand. A damaged black and white camera that had to be fixed to a video machine took care of the photography and a ZX Spectrum was used for any graphics. The static nature of the camera lead to everything having to be shot in one location. The actors would walk in and out of shot to deliver their lines and play about eight characters each. Praise The Lord was not the first Moonpie project, there were two shorts before this. The first was untitled and spun a surreal yarn set aboard a train journey while the second was a biographical film about the doomed band Jettison Pod. Entitled The Rise & Fall & Sheer Brown Pants Of Jettison Pod it told the story of a rising indie band that due to artistic differences and egos tore itself apart. No copies of these two films exist in any form. It was shortly after this that Praise The Lord was made, the first in the Chastity and Spendlove series and would become Moonpie Films trademark franchise. |
